Whether you prefer a swimming pool or a bathing lake, during the summer, the Eifel offers many opportunities for taking a swim and cooling down.
As well as places to swim in the many bathing lakes and open-air swimming pools, swimming the maars in the Eifel is a very special experience.

Meerfeld maar nature pool


The view from the "Landesblick" observation tower is impressive: around 200 metres below, the Meerfelder Maar glistens, gently embedded in the largest maar funnel in the Eifel. But only part of the 1,700-metre-long cauldron is covered with water.

Freibad Manderscheid


The Manderscheid family outdoor pool is located on the edge of the Liesertal with plenty of attractions, such as a wide water slide, a jumping facility, a baby and toddler pool and a large lawn with play areas.

The outdoor swimming pool is heated and has a swimmer and a non-swimmer section. Children enjoy the slide, ping-pong tables, and parking for cars and bikes. The pool opens in the beginning of june.

Gemünden maar nature pool


Surrounded by beech trees you find the Gemündner Maar, the smallest of the Dauner Maare.
The brave of heart can simply jump head-first into the open-air pool, even from a 7. 5-metre diving tower. Relax in the large poolside area, splash around with your child in the pool for non-swimmers, or take a break at the kiosk…

Freibad Heimbach


The outdoor pool Heimbach is located right next to the Rur inside nationalpark Eifel. The family friendly pool offers a watertemperature of 24°C, a slide and a big sunbathing lawn, including a volleyball court.
