On the last day of the year, the "Vulkan-Expreß" traditionally sets off on its New Year's Eve trip from Brohl am Rhein to Engeln in the Eifel!


The tranquil winter journey on our narrow-gauge railroad into the hopefully snow-covered Eifel begins at 10:15 am. After around 1.5 hours, you will reach the terminus in Engeln, 459 meters above sea level - our train will have covered around 400 meters in altitude from the Rhine to the Eifel.

On the Eifel heights, you have the opportunity to take part in a guided hike and enjoy refreshments in the Brohl Valley restaurants along the way. After the hike, the comfortably warm heated carriages await you for the return journey to Brohl. Arrival in Brohl is at 15:40.

Ticket prices

Adults 21.50 euros, children up to 15 years 8.75 euros. The fare for adults includes a piccolo or non-alcoholic drink.

    Landscape hike with the "Volcano Gardeners" of the Eifelverein through the volcanic village of Steffeln to the Steffeln Volcano Garden. The former lava mining at the Steffelnkopf has decimated the volcanic cone, which used to be more than 600 m high. This exposed the volcanic layers inside. The exposed volcanic vent was converted into an experimental and educational volcano.     #Heimatstädtche Live - AMAGO

    In 2025, #Heimatstädtche Live will once again be presenting live music by local artists on the first Wednesday of every month from May to September in the Auelsburg. It always starts at 7 pm, admission is free. Parking is available on the grounds of Georgpark, bus line 872 (Georgstraße stop) runs right next to the park.
