St.-Salvator-Basilika Prüm
Prüm historian and town guide Monika Rolef has published a new book on the history of Prüm with many unseen historical photos.
Book launch: "Prüm Album" - A collective family album of the town
The "Prümer Album" is a richly illustrated new book on the history of the town. Edited by Monika Rolef, the lavishly designed volume brings together contributions from numerous authors from the region, including historians, artists, craftspeople and contemporary witnesses.
In November 1950, St. Salvator's Church was elevated to Basilica minor and Prüm is celebrating its 75th anniversary with a major festival. To mark the occasion, the exhibition "People between ruins and reconstruction" by Monika Rolef, Klaus Ritter and Kaspar Thürwächter will be on display in the basilica for the first time since 1991 from November 22. On this occasion, we will also be presenting the "Prüm Album" at 2 pm.
The book is dedicated to many "Prüm treasures", special places, people and stories that shape the cultural memory of the town: from the baroque Basilica of St. Salvator with its relics to the tradition of local craft businesses and artists such as Gerdi Haas, Willi Bauro and Peter Weiland.
Home lives in us because we are part of a long chain, rooted in what has been and oriented towards what is to come. Home is a space of time.
