"Psychological puberty famously begins around the age of thirteen. Anyone who thinks it ends at sixteen is mistaken. Because I’m only really in it at the age of forty! Okay, an artist needs strong emotions. How else is she supposed to write moving songs? But I definitely have too many of them:
There’s the urge to save the world, the joy of growing older, the fear of aging, the desire to poison my dog, the guilty conscience because I want to poison my dog, the longing for great Hollywood love, the craving for casual sex, the insatiable appetite for rich food, the unyielding will to write a hit song, the inner emptiness because I’ve been trying to write a hit for years, the unconditional love for my child, and the hatred for mothers who can craft..."
