Kultur- & Tagungsstätte Synagoge
325 Years of the Clarinet Ulrich Junk, clarinet & Johannes Baum, piano (Charity concert, free admission, donations for the Wittlich hospice welcome)
The two artists invite you on a musical journey through time: from the beginnings of the instrument, invented by Johann Christian Denner in Nuremberg, to masterpieces of the Romantic period. Using compositions by Stamitz, Mozart, Weber, Brahms, Reger and others, they demonstrate how closely clarinettists and composers worked together – many works would never have been written without this creative partnership.
Ulrich Junk studied clarinet at the Robert Schumann University of Music in Düsseldorf with Prof. Helmut Gießer and took masterclasses with Sabine Meyer, among others. He has been a successful soloist, chamber musician and teacher for decades. He currently plays in the ‘UBI Trio’ and the ‘NOVALIS Wind Quintet’. Johannes Baum completed his piano studies at the Saarbrücken University of Music with Prof. Alexander Sellier and deepened his knowledge of chamber music with Prof. Claus Kanngießer and Prof. Martin Galling. He received significant artistic inspiration from Prof. Nerine Barrett (Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen). He worked for many years as a music teacher at the Cusanus Gymnasium Wittlich and is active as a pianist and organist in the region.
Admission is free – donations to the Wittlich Hospice are welcome.
