The performance artist Matthias Schamp will set up a seesaw exactly in the middle of the municipal boundary line between the VG Bad Breisig and the VG Brohltal starting Monday, September 22, specifically = on the boundary between Burgbrohl-Lützingen and Brohl-Lützing, or between Oberlützingen and Niederlützingen. As part of the project RENT AN ARTIST, AIM e.V. has invited the Bochum artist, who offers the following menu: A seesaw is located on the Brohler Weg precisely on the municipal and association community boundary. Daily, Matthias Schamp is available for seesawing from 4 to 5 PM, where his first service is that he takes the position of Oberlützingen and as a second service, he seesaws on the side of Niederlützingen. For everyone who participates in seesawing, an artistically designed certificate will be issued.
Matthias Schamp is no stranger to the region. From 2020 to 2021, he was a guest artist at the Kunstpavillon Burgbrohl and realized the MYTHOS-GRILL GOES WUNDERKAMMER with the innkeeper Nella Distelrath and visitors of the village pub "Ponderosa" in Niederlützingen, as well as the GRAVITATIONSTEST-AKTIONEN in 2022 with the Brohler Böllerbuben in the Schützenhalle in Oberlützingen. He also presented casts of the imprint of the Knobel-Becher-Kuhle from the counter of the PONDEROSA. These sculptural expressions in the wooden counter, which were created through years of diverse effects of various Knobelbecher interactions, fascinated Matthias Schamp so much that he took the form in Nella’s pub to create casts.
Matthias Schamp is known nationwide for his BAD HIDING PLACES published in the Frankfurt satire magazine TITANIC from 2000 to 2004. Matthias Schamp claims: "Hiding poorly is radical failure as a method. I see it as a kind of cure. In a world where success is the measure of all things, it is immensely refreshing not to accomplish an action that even the last fool could manage effortlessly. Give it a try. You will realize how pleasant it is and how many friends you gain in the process."
Matthias Schamp has held exhibitions, teaching positions, various actions, and projects at home and abroad since 1988, including being the curator of the exhibition The Pet Project at Kunstmuseum Bochum, leading a Goethe-Guerilla workshop in Budapest, being a festival writer for steirischer herbst in Graz, and founding the Mythos-Grill in 1997. www.der-schamp.de
