DUO Ramón Jaffé (cello) & Monica Gutman (piano) Christian-Jewish encounters from classical music to tango in the Wittlich Synagogue Ramón Jaffé (cello) Monica Gutman (piano)

The concert takes listeners on a musical journey through different eras and cultures, from lyrical romanticism to the rhythmic passion of tango. Gernsheim's expressive work follows in the romantic tradition, while Beethoven's variations on a theme by Handel display virtuoso imagination. Helene Liebmann's Grande Sonate combines classical romantic form with subtle melodies – well worth rediscovering.

Then Romanticism meets tango: Robert Schumann is the stylistic godfather of Romanticism. The Argentine José Bragato combines classical depth with South American rhythms. In RamonTango – composed for Ramon Jaffé – an Israeli tango encounters its Latin American counterpart. A musical dialogue across cultural boundaries.

Cellist Ramon Jaffé – born in Latvia, raised in Israel and Germany – is in demand internationally as a versatile soloist and chamber musician. Pianist Monica Gutman impresses with her sensitivity and stylistic range.
