Tony (Franck Dubosc) is in his mid-50s and sees himself as an absolute loner with a higher calling. While he spends the first half of the day driving a school bus through the suburbs of Paris, he spends the second half of the day dreaming of emigrating to America and enjoying boundless freedom. Tony's dream is shattered by a heart attack. More aware of his own mortality than ever before, he finally wants to meet his daughter Maria (Louna Espinosa). He abandoned her mother before Maria was born. Her daughter now works as a dance teacher. So Tony quickly signs up for one of her rumba classes under a false name. But it's not that easy to make up for several years of disappointment

With THE RUMBA THERAPY, director Franck Dubosc not only gives scandalous author Michel Houellebecq an unforgettable cinema appearance in the guest role of a cardiologically trained shaman. In his film, he succeeds in bringing the joie de vivre of Latin American dancing from the dance floor to the big screen. Fiery rhythms and absurd French humor guarantee the best entertainment in this opulent and extremely danceable feel-good comedy about the happiness of responsibility and the hope of a happy ending. A movie for dance fans as well as for die-hard non-dancers (and of course for non-dancers too!). And above all, very entertaining.
