Museum in der wArtehalle
Art exhibition by Christiane Schmalen at the wArtehalle Welchenhausen
Christiane Schmalen is a visual artist and writer from Vianden. She obtained her art diploma from the European Art Academy in Trier. Before that, she worked as a horticultural technician and industrial engineer with a focus on environment and sustainability. These different qualifications are reflected in her artistic work.
She uses used painting grounds and natural colors. She mixes them herself from pigments, preferably as egg tempera. Christiane Schmalen is inspired by the nature-oriented art of indigenous peoples, where reality, symbolism, spiritual and mythical concepts intertwine. Often referred to as "primitive" in the past, this worldview is characterized by a deep reverence for nature. She expands her artistic perspective through other myths and fictional characters, drawing spontaneous ideas from them. Christiane Schmalen moves in multiple ways between fantasy and reality, in her working method, her colors, and her range of forms. She wishes for a sustainable, peaceful world where everyone can greet each other simply and without prejudice with a warm Luxembourgish "Moien!"
In today's world situation, it might well be her fantastic figures rather than many people.
Vernissage is on 09.08.2025, 4:00 PM in 54617 Lützkampen-Welchenhausen
The exhibition can be visited until October 10th
