"Purgatory" by Sofi Oksanen "Literature Talks" is an open series of events for anyone interested in literature, moderated by literary scholar Dorothea Berg.

Anyone who has experienced the extreme is also prepared to go to the extreme - as this multi-award-winning and highly suspenseful novel about two women who meet as if by chance and yet share a common history and similar experiences shows: No matter what political system prevails, women are always the victims.

Sofi Oksanen, born in 1977, daughter of an Estonian mother and a Finnish father, studied dramaturgy at the Helsinki Theater Academy. Her third novel, "Purgatory", was number one on the Finnish bestseller list for months and won numerous awards. It also made the author one of the most important representatives of international contemporary literature in Germany.
