Laacher Orgelkonzert mit beiden Orgeln im Dialog

Vereinigung der Benediktiner zu Maria Laach e.V.

9/14/25
4:00 PM

On Friday, May 30, Stefan Emanuel Knauer will start the next organ concert at 7 p.m. in the Maria Laach Abbey Church with the famous, festive work "Grand Chœeur dialogué" by Gigout, in which both abbey organs can be heard alternately.

The masterfully conceived program includes chorale arrangements and transcriptions by Bach, a romantic and meditative "Ave Maria" by Bossi, the first organ fantasy by Saint-Saëns with its roaring finale, the rhythmically gripping work "Litanies" by Alain and "Prélude et Fugue sur le nom d'Alain" by Duruflé - a magnificent work that suits the church and the instrument, with a climactic fugue at the end. Knauer is cantor in Erkelenz, where he helped plan and supervise the construction of one of the highest quality new organs (by the Scholz company) in recent years. In Erkelenz, in addition to his work as a cantor, he directs a highly acclaimed series of organ concerts and performs major oratorios with his choirs. He has already studied the Laach organs so intensively and conscientiously during a preparatory tour lasting several days that you can expect a balanced, inspiring and inspiring program with many facets of sound from the instruments. Total duration: approx. 60 minutes. Admission is free; a collection will be taken at the end for the preservation of the Laach Organ Concerts. You are cordially invited.
