Klosterkirche Niederehe

10/10/25
7:00 PM

Extraordinary event series "With the Viol through the Eifel" - Early music in 11 churches and chapels of the Eifel with concerts, theater, and guided tours. On Friday, October 10th at 7 PM, the viol will find its fortune on the Eifelsteig with the King's Organ in St. Leodegar in Niederehe. Christoph Frommen is an organ expert who has often set up his microphones here for his organ recordings for the Aeolus label. He will report on this and also on the peculiarities of the Eifel organs. In particular, he will honor the oldest organ in Rhineland-Palatinate, which will resonate with viol music from the early Baroque period. The event in Niederehe is organized in cooperation with the Niedereh organ concerts and supported by KSK-Vulkaneifel. Tickets for the events are available at the entrance on the day of the event – always as long as the seating capacity lasts. Reservations are not possible. The ticket price is 20 euros (reduced 15 €).

Extraordinary event series "Through the Eifel with the Viola da Gamba."
Early music in 11 churches and chapels of the Eifel featuring concerts, theater, and guided tours

The Eifel is a very special region. This year, an extraordinary event series will take place between May 10th and November 7th in 11 locations throughout the Eifel. The musicians of Ensemble favori will travel to a total of 11 unique churches and chapels in the Eifel, presenting a program of concerts, theater, and guided tours. The events in the different locations will each connect uniquely to the extraordinary sites and architectures of the chapels and churches in the Eifel towns. In addition to recitations, art historical lectures, and theater, there will also be guided tours and hikes before the concerts. At some locations, a communal end to the day with food and drink alongside visitors and residents is also planned.

Ensemble favori consists of artists Christoph Barth (lute and theorbo), Johannes Geffert (harpsichord), Willi Kronenburg (organ), Sabine Weber (viola da gamba), and actress Hildegard Meier, who will breathe new life into the Eifel monuments with sounds, texts, stories, and characters during this event series.

On Friday, October 10th at 7 PM, the viola da gamba will find its fortune along the Eifel path with the King's organ in Sankt Leodegar in Niederehe. Christoph Frommen, an organ expert, has often set up his microphones here for his organ recordings for the Aeolus label. He will report on this and also on the peculiarities of Eifel organs. In particular, he will honor the oldest organ in Rhineland-Palatinate, which will resonate with viola da gamba music from the early Baroque period. The event in Niederehe is organized in collaboration with the Niedereh organ concerts and supported by KSK-Vulkaneifel.

Tickets for the events can be purchased at the entrance on the event day – always while supplies last. Reservations are not possible. The ticket price is 20 euros (reduced 15 €).
