Gerolstein

A subtropical shallow sea in the Eifel? Shimmering heat - gentle sound of the sea. In the warm, sun-drenched sea water, coral grows and branches out like the branches of a tree towards the light. Tropical reefs: Gardens of the oceans - undersea paradises! Reef builders such as corals and stromatopores created this fantastic underwater world with its bizarre beauty 380 million years ago.We can admire these reefs today in petrified form - the Gerolstein Dolomites! A volcano and yet no volcano? Where did the Neanderthal man live? Who is Caiva? We answer all these questions on our journey through millions of years. Dive into the colourful world of tropical reefs. Let us take you back to the "hot" past of the Eifel. Learn interesting facts about 200,000 years of human history around Gerolstein. Partly narrow, steep paths: the path is not suitable for prams.

Mein Freund der Baum - über die Wacholderheide Seiderath zu meinem Lieblingsbaum
Nov 7, 2023

It could tell a lot, the Liberation Beech or Napoleon's Beech on the "Alten Voss" near Berlingen.                                                                                 Clinging to the old volcano, it has defied wind and weather for centuries and is reluctant to reveal its secrets and experiences. The way to it leads through a juniper heather near Pelm and depending on the season there is also a flora worth seeing and worth protecting. Price: adults € 8.00, children up to 16 years free, groups € 60.00, information / registration (required): Johannes Munkler, email: J.Munkler@t-online.de, tel: 06591 3888, mobile: 0171 6443572, hiking distance 8 km at 220 meters altitude, walking time approx. 3 hours.
