During the last years, the Aachen zoo, called "Euregiozoo" or "Öcher Zoo", has developed into one of the most popular leisure facilities of the region. Around 1.000 animals of 200 species and breeds are housed in broad enclosures on about 8.9 ha. There is a great variety of animals in the park: not only tiny exotic birds to zebras, antelopes, ostriches or asian camels, but also local species can be seen.
Especially for children the park offers lots of opportunities to spend a great day or even their holidays. Apart from celebrating their birthday in the Euregiozoo, they can ride on ponies, visit the "Kinderbauernhof" (farm where children can care for the animals) or go to one of the big playgrounds.
